Our Mission

Our mission at 'Beats on the Lake' is to curate an unforgettable event where attendees can immerse themselves in the company of great people, the finest music, all while knowing that a portion of the funds raised will go towards supporting the incredible cause of GIGI's Playhouse.

In fact a portion of the proceeds from 'Beats on the Lake' will be graciously donated to GIGI's Playhouse, supporting their mission of empowering individuals with Down syndrome and their families through educational and therapeutic programs.

GiGi’s Playhouse

In 2003, GiGi’s Playhouse was founded by Nancy Gianni based upon her promise to change the way the world views Down syndrome.  Her mission and drive created a community of now 57 (and growing ) Playhouses serving families across the country and around the globe. This is still our mission today.

Paul and Adrienne Mulligan felt the same drive when their daughter, Sara Kate, was born in 2008.  Very soon after, Adrienne launched the SKate Foundation, with her mission, “to break down old stereotypes and raise expectations for people living with this condition through early intervention.”  Within a year, Adrienne had met Nancy and made a pledge the The Skate Foundation would focus all efforts to bring GiGi’s Playhouse to Atlanta.  In 2011, the SKate Foundation, working alongside the founding GiGi’s Playhouse Atlanta Board of Directors, raised the funds to open GiGi’s Playhouse Atlanta, the 9th national Playhouse and 1st in the Southeast.

The Atlanta Midtown location opened its doors and began serving families in metro Atlanta with valued GiGi’s FREE programming and therapies, as well as establishing a sense of belonging for the Down syndrome community. To further support the greater Atlanta community, they opened a 2nd location in Roswell, GA. While the Midtown location had to close its doors, Roswell remains and now serves more families than ever!

GiGi’s Playhouses are 100% donor funded and 99% volunteer run. This is all to ensure that no family is ever denied services due to costs. These FREE services include educational support, multiple therapy opportunities, teen focused groups, job training, summer camps, nights out, and adult transition programs to name a few! We all look forward to watching GiGi’s Playhouse Atlanta continue to grow, to thrive, and to promote belief in our community. The dream is to someday see a GiGi’s Playhouse in every zip code and beyond, and to watch as the world becomes a better place.

FAQ

Friends! Thank you all for coming to Beats on the Lake this year! The last two years have truly been something special and we're excited to do it again this year! I can't think of a cooler lineup as we have this year!

Beats on the Lake is a charity event aimed at raising money for GiGi's playhouse - a charity organization that helps children with Down Syndrome. Our hosts and partners for this event are Amy Jeffries and Damon Rose. Amy's son Jake has DS and their passion for helping other families is clear - they graciously allow us to throw this large event on their private property each year. They are wonderful humans and they LOVE dance music. :)

Here is a Sponsorship Event Guide which speaks to the cause and purpose of BOTL as well as pricing for anyone that's interested in sponsoring the event.

Details:

The event is June 21nd.

Time is 4PM-2AM

This is at a private residence on lake Lanier.

Parking at the house is extremely limited so we ask you to park down at Hall and Hound - 1920 Freedom Pkwy, Cumming, GA 30041-  where attendees park - we have shuttles bringing people to and from the event all day/evening. There will be drinks and food available for those that are waiting on the shuttle at the restaurant.

NO ONE MAY DRIVE HOME IF YOU ARE DRUNK OR MESSED UP. We’re very very serious about this so if you are going to party - please plan on ubering or staying in a local hotel/VRBO or just hanging out till you are good to go. :)

This year there will be two main environments for revelers to hang out and listen to you all play:

1. The Dock - Right on Lake Lanier. DJ's will either be playing on the dock or on a raised pontoon boat right next to it. Many lake enthusiasts and boat owners tie their boats up and listen to music as well. The dock can comfortably hold about 50 people and we extend that by adding tenting and astroturf to the area next to the dock. We are also looking into a radio transmitter so boats can broadcast what we’re playing to the boats. Music plays from 2PM - 11PM at the dock. We have to shut down at 11PM at the dock so as not to disturb neighbors.

2. The driveway/Rock the Disco Sound System experience featuring the RTDSS airstream/mobile DJ rig. This area will only have music from 5PM-11PM - keeping most people down at the dock or inside in VIP. We’ll start with live music from teh cover band at 5PM then DJ’s till 11:30ish. After that we’ll start the silent disco outside so as not to disturb the neighbors.

In addition to these main areas we have food trucks, an artist gallery, an area for our sponsors to set up, picnic tables for people to eat, drink and hang and we're looking into a mobile Bar or Keg station.

TICKETS

There are VIP tickets which grants access to the inside of the house and free food, beverages and the party deck. General Admission grants access to the dock, the house grounds and the second house but not inside the VIP area. Please note this is a charity event and most of the proceeds will go to GiGI's playhouse.
